Jicama -Climbing Yam Bean
Jicama is a climbing legume vine from South America. Remove the seed pods as they are toxic and take vigour from the plant and reduce the harvest of tubers. It is a perennial, but often grown as an annual if all the root tubers are harvested. The plants die back in winter in cool climates but the tubers will shoot again in spring. The root of Jicama develops swellings the size of a large turnip, under the surface of the ground.
Germinates best at 25 -30 C Soil temperature. Soak seed overnight in warm water before sowing
