These rare and hard to find Perennial leeks are hardy and will self propagate by forming offshoots/baby leeks of the main plant! They may die back to small bulbs in summer if the soil becomes too dry, but will usually re-shoot when conditions improve. They will grow best in fertile soil with good drainage in full sun or part shade.
They can be harvested at any size – Perennial leeks may not get as large as those you find in the shops, but you’ll get many more of them and equally as tasty . When harvesting you can use a fork to dig up a clump harvest the biggest leeks and just replant or leave the smaller leeks in the ground.
