Lab lab bean ‘Highworth’ is a vigorous variety that thrives in warm climates, producing an abundance of tender flat pods that can be eaten fresh or cooked when young or allowed to mature to produce beans for drying and long storage. With its attractive purple flowers and lush foliage, ‘Highworth’ not only provides a bountiful harvest but can also create an attractive wind tolerant screen. Its deep taproot enables it to access water from up to 2 meters below the soil surface, making it highly drought-resistant and capable of growing during dry periods.

Mature seeds of lablab must be boiled before consumption to eliminate a toxic cyanogenic glycoside present in their seed coat.
