Originating from Japan, this long, thin-walled pepper variety is known for its mild heat and unique flavour. The fruits are slightly wrinkled, growing up to 10 cm in length. Most of them are sweet-flavoured, with just a hint of spice. However, watch out—around ten percent of the fruits can surprise you with a bit more heat! Harvest them when they’re still green for sautéing, roasting, or as tempura. The Shishito Chilli is a favourite among chefs, and its emerald, green colour ripens to red.
