Eryngium foetidum
Also known as Mexican coriander. Long, serrated leaves have a pungent flavour very similar to regular coriander. The leaves can withstand cooking and are great in stir-fries, soups, salads, curries, and salsa. Grow in a warm sheltered spot that receives regular water through summer. Prune the prickly flower heads regularly in summer to encourage leaf growth. This perennial plant is a great addition to the garden as it can provide leaves when annual coriander is out of season.
Sow the tiny seeds on the surface of the soil in pots or trays, germinates best at temperatures between 25 and 28 c, germination can be slow (up to a month)
